Events – November 2018

Greetings all Animal Lovers!

Today I present to you our gorgeous society letter including updates and the much awaited events for the second half of November. Halloween came and went in the blink of an eye, leaving us with only a few weeks until exam period and then the holiday break. Season’s greeting; Winter says hi!

Starting off on November 13th, which is a Tuesday, we are hosting a movie screening of the Lion King in Boole 6. Hard to believe Disney’s classic came out 24 years ago when it’s still as much a celebrated movie as it was back then. Join us with a couple of blankets, maybe some pillows; feel like a child again! We will have vegan-friendly pizza and popcorn so treat yourself – it’s on us!

For mental health we are collaborating with UCC Niteline and Munster Lost and Found to bring you the one and only ‘Puppy Room’, where sweet little pups are brought in to cuddle that are looking for a forever home! Come to the Upstairs SU Common Room November 15th, Thursday, from 12PM to 3PM. It’s a win-win situation; you can relax and play with these puppies while at the same helping them socialise. Even a bigger plus is that the charity will be selling small gifts and collecting donations for their cause to ‘help lost pets find their way home’.

November 20th, Tuesday, brings you a Boardgames Night in the Boole 6 at 7PM. We will provide vegan-friendly pizza and other treats and you can get a chance to chill while beating your fellow society friends at Connect 4. Be sure to turn up; the winner will get an honorary high-five from the society Chairperson himself!

Wednesday 28th November we are tripling our events. Outside the Boole Library from 11AM to 3PM we are running a vegan bake-sale and dog food drive to fundraise for Bear’s Paw It Forward. They collect donations, pet food, and other pet supplies to then divide them equally between other Irish societies like Munster Lost and Found, Cat Haven, Community Cats Network, West Cork Animal Welfare Group, Deise Animal Sanctuary, and many more! You are more than welcome to bring dog or cat food, old blankets or toys, the shoes your puppy accidentally chewed up. Shoes aside, anything on hand you think would benefit sheltered animals. You may get a free treat in return!

At 7PM, we are having a ‘Meatless Meetup’: Winter Edition in the Upstairs SU Common Room. Christmas themed, so come in a Christmas sweater to listen to some Christmas songs and eat Christmas vegan-friendly treats! And as always, you’re welcome to bake for the bale-sale and ‘Meatless Meetup’. The more cakes the merrier and so far I haven’t heard anyone complaining; it’s about time for the Christmas bod!

These are our events for now. We hope you’ll have good fun and see you all there!

Regards,

Oliwia
